In the event of Multicultural Medical Group shutdown in San Diego, there are many patients who find themselves assigned to a new doctor or have to switch insurance to keep the same doctor.
In many cases, patients will be able to keep their Primary Care Physician (PCP) and Medicare plan. They’ll just be assigned a different in-network medical group that contracts with their PCP. However, if a member’s PCP is not contracted with another in-network medical group, the member will be automatically reassigned to a new PCP who is in-network with his/her Medicare plan.
Please note if you’re being auto-assigned to other providers, you may have alternate plan choices and can use the wildfires SEP to enroll in a new Medicare plan, as long as you reside in San Diego County and are eligible for enrollment in a new plan if you did not make an election during last AEP.
If you are in this situation and need help in finding a new Medicare plan to keep your current doctor, don’t hesitate to contact me. I can give you a personalized consultation with any situation you may have.
